Fight Obesity and Get Fit

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Sarah Caddle asked:

Obesity is a healthcare issue affecting a great number of people in the US to both children and adults which is caused by improper nutrition. Hence, the widespread of healthy weight loss diet clinics, wellness spa, and derma clinics are rapidly increasing due to this issue. People suffering from excess weight can now choose procedures from surgical to non-surgical . Both methods can result to a positive and negative outcome. Hence, you have to make the right decision.

Excess body weight can increase the risk of developing other types of diseases. Therefore prevention and treatment has to start at an early age. Health organizations fear the increase of obesity cases especially in children. Parents need to carry out the responsibility of proper feeding and nutrition. A healthy weight loss diet program would educate your children proper eating habits and food intake. Make it a point every time that, prevention is better than cure. The problem of obesity leads to further problems that can affect the psychological and emotional aspect of your child/children.

Healthy weight loss diet management can start from the home. More often than not, parents depend on fast food meals not knowing the quality and content of these types of food. It is no doubt that these types of food absolutely look good and taste delicious; however, it may be dangerous if taken in huge amounts. Be very cautious on food intake and perhaps moderately reduce its amount. You may not know that your children had eaten too much calories and fats in their bodies which is unhealthy for them. If you continue with this kind of practice, then obesity would definitely occur to your children.

As parents, let your children grow and enjoy their childhood guided with a healthy form of lifestyle by giving them proper nutrition everyday and a good amount of exercise to keep them physically fit. It is not a simple responsibility. However, you can make things easy by making a good plan. If you notice that your child or children are gaining weight, know the causes and intervene quickly. Always consider their future in every endeavor.

kyle sagaas asked:

Most studies reveal that the use of fat eliminators has been clinically proven to be truly helpful to people suffering from obesity or those who are simply overweight. They are known to deliver quick results and put forward no difficulty in using them. In as much as most of us feel the need of being slim and healthy, they have become quite popular and important. Today, many fat burning drugs are utilized on a large scale and have become quite popular among its many users.

1) Ephedra-Free Fat Burners

Although fat burning drugs containing ephedra are the most commonly used ones due to its effectiveness and fast results, now, many dieters are turning to organic fat burners which produce little or no side effects at all. The natural ones are considered to be the safest.

2) Fat Burners Essentially  Fit for Women

A lot of fat burning drugs these days which are available in the market were especially created for use by women. The demand for such fat burning drugs increased rapidly after ephedra was proved to be hazardous but eventually was brought back to the market because of its efficiency. This market is quite a big one. Women are very much concerned about their health and are ready to try various options available in the market. The pressure on women to stay slim is huge. This provides them an easy way to get going.

3) Fat Tissue Burners

Sometimes dieting and exercise do not lead to required results. If one wishes to shed excess weight and wants to keep it off longer then changes in lifestyle should be adopted. Fat tissue burners can prove to be effective when they are taken along with a weight loss program.

4) Natural Fat Burner – Change In Lifestyle

We always want a fast way out for weight loss, but as always, natural weight loss is the best prescribed even by medical doctors and dieticians, it may include one of the following:

a) Consuming all natural food (Purely organic like veggies and fresh meat).

b) Refraining from eating foods with high content preservatives.

c) Refraining from binging as well as eating before sleeping.

d) Having a good daily exercise regimen.

e) Brisk walking which is very good for the heart.

Diet drugs are not the authentic solution to weight loss. Diet pills should not be taken for long term courses and might result in heart and liver problems. Several diet drugs have been coupled with severe heart problems and other health-related diseases, and it has been found that diet drugs have resulted in a number of deaths.Herbal diet pills work through a complete different way unlike other harsh chemical drugs. Ingredients in herbal pills are related to large number of health hazards.

The most vital motive is not to establish ideal weight, but the ultimate goal is to adopt permanent and healthy lifestyle practices. When these conditions are fulfilled than one’s weight loss becomes effortless.

Thus it can easily be conclude that weight loss is not at all an easy task. But the right approach towards the goal will allow one to shed excess weight without being worried about the side effects. Thus it is a good option to lose weight by natural process.

Morbid Obesity – Getting The Help You Need

Friday, July 17th, 2009
Donald Saunders asked:

For many people putting on weight seems to be just a normal part of life and is not something they worry about until either other people start to pass comment or it begins to affect their ability to go about their normal day to day life. By the time this happens however a surprisingly high percentage of people have passed through the stages of being overweight and obese and have reached the point of morbid obesity.

Morbid obesity is generally measured in terms of your Body Mass Index (BMI) which is calculated by taking your weight in kilograms and dividing it by the square of your height in meters. If the result of this calculation is greater than 40 then you are said to be suffering from morbid obesity. As a very general guide a man would be classed as morbidly obese if he were about 100 lbs overweight and a woman would reach this point when carrying approximately 80 lbs of excess weight.

So, having reached the point of morbid obesity where do you turn for help?

For a growing number of people the obvious solution would seem to be weight loss surgery however, as far as your doctor is concerned, this is not your first port of call but is very much the option of last resort. So where else can you look for a solution?

Your starting point has to be the traditional route of diet and exercise. Indeed, to qualify as a candidate for weight loss surgery, should this turn out to be your only workable option, you will need to satisfy your surgeon that you have tried everything else, including dieting, without success.

Despite the craze for diet and exercise that has been sweeping much of the Western world in recent years the sad fact is that the vast majority of people simple don’t lose weight through dieting. They may well lose weight while they are on a diet but as soon as they come off it their weight bounces back up again and, in most cases, ends up above the weight at which they started the diet.

For people who are greatly overweight, and certainly for those who have reached the point of morbid obesity, there is also the added complication that their high weight is being sustained by a lifestyle and a pattern of eating which may be extremely difficult to break.

At this point you need professional help. A do-it-yourself diet or membership of your local slimming club or an organization like Weight Watchers is simply not going to work so don’t waste your time even trying it. Sit down and talk to your doctor and get yourself onto a long-term (at least six months) medically supervised weight loss program under the care of your own or a specialist doctor and with the support of trained dietitians and counselors.

A medically supervised diet conducted over a reasonably long period of time with professional help and assistance to not only lose weight but to make the necessary changes to your lifestyle and eating habits stands a reasonable chance of success and, if it doesn’t work, then you are at least part of the way down the road to qualifying for weight loss surgery.

Morbid obesity is, as its name suggests, a life-threatening condition and, having reached this point, you need to take positive action to reverse you weight gain before you start to run into one or more of the many complications that being morbidly obese will inevitably bring in its wake. This is not however a condition for which a simple “self-help” remedy will do the trick and you should not hesitate to seek professional medical advice and assistance right from the start.

A Cause of Diabetes?. Obesity

Friday, March 6th, 2009
Mike Herman asked:

We all see the “daily” news reports that obesity related illnesses that are a growing killer in the world today. The death totals for obesity related diseases have increased by more than thirty percent in the last decade. Obesity contributes to heart disease, strokes, and diabetes and don’t forget they contribute to a whole host of ailments including arthritis.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC) recently reported in a new study that self-reported diabetes has soared in the past six years. They also state that obesity is the main cause for this dramatic increase. Those groups more at risk are the older populations, poorly educated, and minorities. Minorities are predisposed than white Caucasians to develop diabetes. This first study was done on a regional basis; the new study involved the entire nation. The reports were alarming, and the CDC are concerned there will be even bigger problems in the future.

The Surgeon General states that the number of obese or overweight adults in this country is fifty percent more than it was just a decade ago. Children and young adults are increasingly being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, which is mainly known as adult-onset diabetes, and even high blood pressure is a problem with 24 percent of the population in children.

Also studies show that one third of the children born in the year 2000 will develop type 2 diabetes and this also leads to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney problems, and undermines the brains to work correctly.

Researchers have found that obesity also disrupts the metabolism of insulin in the body. They found that excess weight at the waistlines lead to increased risk for developing diabetes and even cancer.

An interesting fact states that those adults who ate fast food at least twice a week and gained ten pounds were more likely to develop diabetes. Fast foods are not considered part of a healthy eating pattern, even though some fast-food franchises have been introducing fruits, salads, and bottled water for healthier choices.

We now know that adult only needs to lose from five to seven percent of their body fat to reduce the risk for diabetes and heart disease. That means that a 200-pound person would only need to lose a little as ten pounds to see benefits.

A moderate change in lifestyle will not only help reduce the risk of developing diabetes but also will benefit your health in many other ways. Exercise also benefits circulation problems, heart problems, osteoporosis, and many other health concerns. Moderate walking, and mild stretching routines are a good way to begin a healthy exercise program. It’s important to talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise program. They will be able to guide you in starting out and give helpful ways to begin.

Studies have shown that increasing your exercise level, working up to 30 minutes a day, or having some form of moderate activity will bring good results. Even slowly walking, instead of the brisk walk recommended will give you many benefits.

Mild exercises for strength or yoga routines are good ways to begin an exercise program. Try parking your car farther out in the parking lot when you go shopping. This adds a few extra steps and if you do it consistently the steps will mount up.

You may want to try marching in place during television commercials.

Education is the key to preventing overweight and obese children and adults. Many of us do not understand the connection between calorie intakes, good and bad carbohydrates, and the ratio of proteins and fats in their diet. Simply understanding what happens to the food your body consumes will help us stay healthy. Seeing the results of obesity and obesity related diseases are a good way to help us decide to start living a healthier lifestyle. Regular exercise and healthy eating will go a long way towards lowering the risk of an obesity related disease such as diabetes.

As adults, we need to take the lead in our families towards controlling this epidemic of obesity related diseases. We have the ability to oversee what are children eat, look at labels before we buy a product at the store, and make healthy meals and snacks for our families.
