Conquering Obesity

Friday, October 2nd, 2009
Kevin Hensey asked:

True to its form, obesity has been a problem to our society nowadays, but it hasn’t really been addressed as much. There have been many articles written about obesity and how to conquer it, many vitamins and supplements have been cropping up in the market, and many kinds of surgeries being implemented left and right to get rid of the fat.

So, in this time and age, is surgery that essential to conquering obesity? Is going to the gym for three or four times a week really worth it? Do all those fat supplements and vitamins work for the perennially obese? What gives?

First, let us enumerate the causes of obesity to understand how to cure this problem. Obesity is highly hereditary, meaning that if you have parents who are obese, there is a greater chance that you would become one too.

People who are generally inactive or passive in their lifestyles may also have a greater chance of being obese. This is because all the calories that they intake, when not turned into energy, becomes stored fat.

People who also live under a healthy diet are also likely to turn up obese. Meals which are very rich in carbohydrates, fats, or sugar are dangerous to people – they might not only contribute to the obesity of one, they might even suffer or die because of it. Fatty foods such as donuts, burgers, cakes, pastries, fries or pizzas should be avoided at all cost.

People who suffer from obesity might likely develop illnesses in later stages of life. Obese people are likely to develop high blood pressure, or cardiovascular diseases.

So how do you cure obesity?

There is actually no overnight sensation in curing obesity. No amount of diets or pills can help cure you of being fat. There are actually ways to prevent you from being obese though.

First and foremost is that you can switch to a healthier diet and lifestyle. If necessary, you can ask for the help of a nutritionist, who will map out your healthy diet plan for the day, for the week, or for the month. The nutritionist will guide you in what food you should take in, or what food you should completely avoid.

Second is that you should find time to exercise. Exercise will not only make you lose weight, it will make carve your endurance and stamina.

And best of all, in order for you to lost weight, have some determination. This will go a long way since with determination, everything will follow suit.

Research on Obesity

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
Sandy Klocinski asked:

Research on obesity shows that many adults are suffering because of their obesity

Medical professionals show that adults who are obese have a greater chance for heart disease, diabetes and stroke. Research on obesity has increased recently for obesity is a problem in the United States and in other places around the world. The percentage of children, teenagers and adults who can be classified as obese has increased recently, and the problem is very detrimental to the health of many people. Approximately 30% of non-Hispanic whites are obese while 45.0% of non-Hispanic blacks and 36.8% of Mexican Americans are obese.

Research on obesity has proven that a family group adopts the same attitudes and practices toward food, behavior and activity level. Focusing on a modification program for the whole family will hopefully increase the success rate for everyone involved.

Overweight and obesity increase the risk of developing numerous serious health problems, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has increased with the national increase in overweight and obesity

Health and medical professions concentrate on treating obesity’s results – heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, gallstones, sleep apnea, bowel cancer, etc. It is a preventable disease through changes in diet and by becoming more physically active. Health Costs – Our children are paying dearly and at their young age are not realizing this. Type 2 Diabetes has risen from 4% new cases seen in the pre-1990’s to between 8-45% during the 1990’s.

Families and communities lie at the foundation of the solution to the problems of overweight and obesity. Family members can share their own knowledge and habits regarding a healthy diet and physical activity with their children, friends, and other community members. Families that do not eat together tend to consume more fried foods and soda and less fruits and veggies than families that share meals.

BMI is useful as a general guideline to monitor trends in the population, but by itself is not diagnostic of an individual patient’s health status. Further evaluation of a patient should be performed to determine his or her weight status and associated health risks. BMI equals a person’s weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. BMI is imperfect since it fails to distinguish fat from lean body mass.

Overweight refers to an excess of body weight compared to set standards. Overweight people face discrimination — in jobs and social situations; even the clothes they need usually cost more! Many can’t enjoy the simple things that most Americans take for granted — like, going to the movies, riding on a roller coaster, even walking up stairs or tying shoes is a major ordeal. Overweight is defined as having a BMI of 25 to 29.9 (a 5′5″ woman who weighs 150 pounds or more or a 5′11″ man who weighs 180 pounds or more). A BMI of 20 to 24.9 is considered normal weight, and a BMI under 20 is considered underweight.

Fat farms are helpful, but a lot of fat people consider these places a stigma and would rather not go there. Instead, they would prefer to have their own parents, relatives, and close friends guide them through the steps that have to be taken to lose weight

Fruits: The Guide To Good Health

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Kevin Pederson asked:

These objectives might stimulate you towards a fruit diet, weight loss, healthy diet, natural cure for obesity and weight control, healthy lifestyle, body cleansing! What more would you ask for? Why else would you have 5 to 9 fresh slices a day, organically grown as far as possible? Lets consider some facts:

1. Fruit mostly consists of water just like the human body does;

2. Fruit is one hundred percent cholesterol free;

3. Fruit leads to better memory;

4. Fruit has miraculous healing effects

5. Fruit has plenty of fiber

6. Fruit makes you feel better, naturally

7. Fruit is the most natural and tasty food

More often than not, fruit consists of water just like the human body. Just like 80% of our body is water is 80% of fruit. Come to think of it, it’s logical for the human body to have foods that contain as much water as the body.

The nutrition that meets our requirements is fruit, hence there is no other food than fruit that contains on average 80% water. No doubt, vegetables contain a lot of water too and are therefore second best on our list.

Fruit is 100% bad-cholesterol free and there is no argument about this. Too much of cholesterol is bad for our bodies and fruit doesn’t contain one bit cholesterol. On the other hand, animal products such as meat and dairy contain a lot of bad-cholesterol.

Besides, it is now proven that fruit stimulates the memory In case you did not know *** yet, fruit is the ultimate brain fuel. The way it works has yet to be discovered and a number of scientists are looking into it. But, we do know that if you have lots of fruit, your brains will be able to recall information faster and more easily.

The miraculous healing effects of fruit are doing the rounds nowadays. In fact, spectacular stories about folks that got cured from incurable diseases just abiding by a strict diet of raw fruits and/or vegetables are well known.

Then how about fibers? We all know now that a diet with lots of fibers helps against obesity, hypertension, and other things that increase the chance for a heart disease and cancers. The amount of fibers consumed could be an even more important factor than the amount of fat that people consume.

Finally, fruit is the most natural food. When you see a piece of fruit dangling from the branch of a tree it is telling you something: “Eat my fruits and help me spread my seeds.” That is how nature works, humans eat fruits and vegetables and subsequently help plants spread.

Human beings use animals to work the land to grow the plants and trees that produce these vegetables and fruits. No wonder, fruit is the best human diet

A healthy diet should comprise a lot of freshly squeezed fruit juices, raw fruits and vegetables. Here are some tips:

1. It is a good start to eat and drink more fresh fruits;

2. It is very simple, before you know it you will be feeling so much better;

3. Always remember to eat fruit on an empty stomach, not after meals
